From Proto-Inuit *nuvaɣ- (phlegm, mucus from cold, have a cold, saliva, cough), from Proto-Eskimo *ńuva-ɣ (saliva). Compare nuak (saliva, cold), nuffarliorpoq (suffers from cold), and nualluk (influenza).
