India is a country in Asia. It is located north of the Indian Ocean. It is the most populous country of the world and the seventh largest by area. It is the birthplace of major eastern religions like Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.

Borders

India borders multiple countries, including Bangladesh, Myanmar, Bhutan, Nepal, China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean.


Population

India is the most populated country in the world with nearly a fifth of the world's population. India is one of the two countries on the planet with more than a billion people, the other being China. The most populated subdivision of India is Uttar Pradesh while the largest cities include Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai. Most of the population of India falls in the age group 15-35.


Flag

The Indian flag is also called Tiranga. It consists of three horizontal bands, of equal size: saffron in color at the top (courage), white in the middle (peace) which has in the middle the Ashoka Chakra blue with 24 rays, and green (prosperity) the bottom one.


Climate

The Climate of India is based on the Köppen system, India hosts six major climatic sub-types, ranging from arid desert in the west, alpine tundra and glaciers in the north, and humid tropical regions supporting rain-forests in the southwest and the island territories. Many regions have starkly different micro-climates.


Ganges

Is a trans-boundary river of Asia which flows through the nations of India and Bangladesh. The river rises in the eastern Himalayas in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, and flows south and east through the Gangetic Plain of North India. It is the third largest river in the world by discharge. It is also called Ganga. It is the most sacred river for Hindus and is worshipped as a goddess in Hinduism. Taj Mahal is located on the banks of river , which is a tributary of the Ganges.
