The Arabian Sea is a part of the Indian Ocean, with the Arabian Peninsula to the west and the Indian subcontinent to the east. To the north are Iran and Pakistan. To the south it merges with the main part of the Indian Ocean. The main arms of the Arabian Sea include the Gulf of Adan, which connects to the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Oman, which connects to the Persian Gulf. The maximum extent of the Arabian Sea is 2,400 km. Its maximum depth is 5,000 meters. Karachi, Pakistan and Mumbai, India are the major seaports on the coast.
