Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *apir, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁epi (“on, upon”). Cognate with Ancient Greek ἐπί (epí, “on top of”). Alternatively, Orel constructs Proto-Albanian *eupera, a secondary analogical ablaut variant of Proto-Indo-European *upér.[1]
