With -au- by artificial adaptation to standard German from Low German Schukel, a lengthened variant of Low German Schuckel (also early modern German Schuckel), deverbal from schuckeln, schockeln, iterative of Middle Low German and Middle High German schocken, from Proto-Germanic *skukkōną. Related with English shock.
