Etymology
First attested in the Worin seokbo (月印釋譜 / 월인석보), 1459, as Middle Korean ᄯᅩᇰ (Yale: stwòng), perhaps from Proto-Koreanic *sotwonko given the unusual Middle Korean low pitch on a monosyllabic noun. See Appendix:Koreanic reconstructions for more.
