Guatemala is a country in Central America. The capital is Guatemala City and the current president is Otto Perez Molina.
History
Maya Period
The Maya civilization flourished in most of what is now Guatemala and surrounding regions during about 2000 years before the arrival of the Spaniards. Its history is divided into three periods: pre-classical, classical and post-classical, still during the classic period when civilization has its main scientific and cultural advances[2].
