Etymology
From tyri (“fatwood”) + hjelm (“helmet”). There are used dialectal forms of this word starting with fur- and tørr-, so it is not clear what was the original form. Today, however, the form starting with tyri- is more common. [1]

tyrihjelm m (definite singular tyrihjelmen, indefinite plural tyrihjelmar, definite plural tyrihjelmane)
