Etymology
From Ottoman Turkish تدقیق (tedkik, “comminution”), from Arabic تَدْقِيق (tadqīq), from the root د ق ق (d-q-q) related to small pieces or particles. Compare Azerbaijani tədqiq. The original sense of beating into slender form or grinding into fine particles is obsolete.
