Etymology

sky + book. Also Calque of Urdu آسمانی کتاب (asmānī kitāb, heavenly book), a popular term used in Pakistan for the Quran.

Referring to the belief that the Quran was first revealed by an angel to Muhammad, a prophet in Islam, so it is considered as a book from Heaven.
