Etymology
From *karth, variant of kërth. For semantic development compare kërthi (“tiny, baby”), Lithuanian tarnas (“servant”), Sanskrit तर्णक (tarṇaka, “calf”), तरुण (táruṇa, “young, boy”).[1]
