Inherited from Ottoman Turkish صحیح (ṣaḥîḥ),[1][2] from Arabic صَحِيح (ṣaḥīḥ, “complete, sound, correct, authentic”), from صَحَّ (ṣaḥḥa, “to be healthy, to be correct”). Deviated semantically from sahih (“authentic, original”) in 1920s.[3]
