pokker

Danish

Etymology

From Middle Low German pocke (boil, abscess), from Proto-Germanic *pukkaz, *pukkǭ (pock; swelling), cognate with English pock, pox, German Pocke. Maybe kopper (smallpox) is a euphemistic refashioning of this word.
