2. (architecture, informal) An airlock (vestibule, foyer or entranceway whose functioning is to keep indoor and outdoor air, humidity, and air temperatures separate).

     After he had paid for the items and the store staff, using an iPad, confirmed to the store inspector that he had only paid for two out of five pieces of meat, the store inspector took action and detained the customer in the airlock on their way out to the parking lot.
