lappause
Norwegian Nynorsk
Etymology
From lapp + ause. Literally, “Sami ladle”, probably referring to the form of a traditional Sami wooden cup, known as guksi in Northern Sami.
Alternatively, a short form of myrlappause, where myrlapp is synonym of frosk (“frog”) in some dialects, probably not related etymologically to lapp (“Sami”).
Noun
lappause f (definite singular lappausa, indefinite plural lappauser, definite plural lappausene)
