kuytu
Turkish
Etymology
Borrowed from Mongolian ᠬᠣᠢᠲᠤ (qoitu, “behind; to the north”).[1][2] Compare kuz and kuzey for semantics. Eyüboğlu instead suggests a borrowing from Ancient Greek κοїθε (koїthe, “seaside”).[3]
