Etymology

Possibly a back-formation from tɤjpɣom (ice), which is cognate with Chinese (OC *pŋrɯŋ, “ice”).[1] Possibly cognate to Tangut 𗎈 (*ꞏwọ¹, ice) or 𘒓 (*par¹, to congeal).[2]
