From Ottoman Turkish ایلتمك (iletmek, to let or make go, to take or carry away), from Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] (ilet-, to carry, bring, carry away), from Proto-Turkic *ẹl-t-, *ẹl-č-.[1]
