Albanian
Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *and-, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂éndʰos (“sprout, germ”). Cognate to Ancient Greek ἄνθος (ánthos, “sprout, flower”) and Vedic Sanskrit अन्धस् (ándhas, “Soma, grass, herb”). A formation with umlaut of the root vowel from plural *andī̆.[1]
