dwudzionek
Polish
Etymology
From dwu- + dzionek. The word dwudzionek was entered in a contest, organized by the editors of Goniec Warszawski in 1937, aimed at replacing the borrowing weekend. However, it did not gain the approval of the jury, which chose the word wyraj, expressing the hope that it would catch on in colloquial speech, which, however, did not happen. In 2017, dwudzionek was submitted to the plebiscite for the Youth Word of the Year, organized by the Polish Scientific Publishers PWN.
