Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish طورم, Old Anatolian Turkish طوروم. Cognate with Turkmen tōrum (6 month-1 year old young camel), Salar tormu (two years old female young horse), torı (male young horse), and torma turı, also Tuvan [script needed] (dorum, young camel), dialectal Azerbaijani turun (2 years old young camel), maybe also dialectal Azerbaijani torumca (spider).
