From Proto-Albanian *den(i)-, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰew- (“to run, flow”). Cognate to Sanskrit धन्वन् (dhánvan-, “desert, arid land, steppe”), Ancient Greek θέω (théō, “run”, verb) and Old English dēaw (“dew”).[1]
