- (networking) A packet of data passed across a network.

- The pseudo header conceptually prefixed to the UDP header contains the source address, the destination address, the protocol, and the UDP length. This information gives protection against misrouted datagrams.
Usage notes
- Although the specifications of the Internet Protocol say that datagrams are what pass through the network, the word packet is more commonly used.
