Borrowed from French crossette, diminutive of crosse. See crosier.

crossette (plural crossettes)

  1. (architecture) A return in one of the corners of the architrave of a door or window.
  2. The shoulder of a joggled keystone.
  3. A kind of firework that produces a starburst in four directions, resembling a cross.
