Etymology

Possibly inherited from Old English brang (also brong), alternative first and third person singular past indicative of bringan (“to bring”), although no Middle English intermediary is attested, and it may have been formed in more recent times by analogy with sing/sang instead, like its cognate Scots brang (“brought”) was.[1]
