Etymology
From Old Swedish aflīþa, equivalent to av- + lida.[1] Cognate with Danish aflida (dated), Norwegian Nynorsk avliden, avlidd (both past participles, the nominative is not used in Norwegian), Gothic 𐌰𐍆𐌻𐌴𐌹𐌸𐌰𐌽 (afleiþan) (consists of the same prefix and stem word but does not seem to be related otherwise).
Verb
avlida (present avlider, preterite avled, supine avlidit, imperative avlid)
