anteivi
Latin
Pronunciation
- (Classical) IPA(key): /anˈtiː.u̯iː/, [än̪ˈt̪iːu̯iː]
- Note: the -e- in this word is not pronounced but is purely orthographic, in line with the "full" spelling of prepositional/prefixal elements. Not only do Latin short vowels followed by other vowels regularly elide on the phonetic level, but stem-final short vowels are already regularly elided on the morphophonological level, i.e. during word derivation. In addition, in Republican spelling, ei spelt the long vowel /iː/.
- (modern Italianate Ecclesiastical) IPA(key): /an.teˈi.vi/, [än̪t̪eˈiːvi]
