aizto
Basque
Alternative forms
- ainzto (Souletin)
Etymology
A connection to haitz (“stone”) was formerly proposed but is now thought unlikely; see that entry for more. Roncalese ainzto would point to Proto-Basque *anezto.[1]
Pronunciation
Audio: (file)
- (most dialects) Rhymes: -ai̯s̻to
- (Biscayan) Rhymes: -ai̯s̺to
- Hyphenation: aiz‧to
