Zaza

English

Etymology

From Zazaki Zaza, though ultimately likely an exonym of non-Iranian substrate (possibly North Caucasian) origin[1] as the term Zaza is considered derogatory.[2] Zazas prefer to call their language Dimlî, which could be related to the Iranian tribe Daylamites.[3][4]

Noun

Zaza (plural Zazas or Zaza)

  1. A member of an ethnic minority of Iranian origin in eastern Turkey.
