PSLE

1. (Singapore) Primary School Leaving Examination: A national examination taken at the end of the final year of primary school. Regarded as a high-stake examination determining the ability to enter a secondary school of choice.
   • 1970, Yee Hean Gwee, Education and social change, page 84:

     One father was asked, “If your child pass PSLE, would you allow her to go to a secondary school?” The reply was, “Even if she passes I don’t think I could afford the fees to send her to a secondary school. Anyway what could secondary school do for her? I need her to earn a living right now”.
