Etymology

Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish اراده (irade), from Arabic إِرَادَة (ʔirāda). The gender probably learnedly feminine from Arabic or neuter by the word’s South Slavic interpretation and masculine by alignment to German Erlass or Befehl.
