Glace Bay
English
Etymology
Calque of French baie de glace (literally “ice bay”), from baie (“bay”) + glace (“ice”). The calque treats "glace" as a proper noun "Glace" instead of common noun "glace". From the fact that the harbour fills with sea ice in winter.
