First attested in 1372. From -l (ablative suffix) + -g (emphatic element).[1]

Suffix

-lag

  1. (adverb-forming suffix) -ly. Mainly added to an adjective suffixed with -i and to a present participle to form an adverb. In the past, it was added to different parts of speech.
    egyhangú (unanimous) + -lagegyhangúlag (unanimously)

Usage notes

  • (adverb-forming suffix) Variants:
    Lua error in Module:utilities at line 142: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'h' (a nil value) is added to back-vowel words
    -leg is added to front-vowel words
