-hVn
Finnish
Etymology
From Proto-Finnic *-hën, a variant of *-sën, probably related to *-lën (allative case suffix) and composed of -s- (internal locative suffix; see -ssa) + Proto-Uralic *-ŋ (lative or dative suffix) (with an epenthetic *-e-). The preceding vowel began to assimilate the vowel in the suffix.
Suffix
-han, -hen, -hin, -hon, -hun, -hyn, -hän, -hön (linguistic notation -hVn, V corresponds to the preceding vowel)
- Forms the illative singular case.
