1. (passive suffix, archaic) Added to a front-vowel verb to form a verb with a passive meaning.

   ‎szül (“to give birth”) + ‎-etik → ‎születik (“to be born”)

• (passive suffix) Variants:

  -atik is added to back-vowel verbs ending in a consonant + t and most monosyllabic verbs

  ‎ad (“to give”) + ‎-atik → ‎adatik (“to be given”)
