  1. (frequentative suffix, rare) Added to a verb to form another verb to express the frequent repetition of an action.
    bújik (to hide) + -dokolbújdokol (to be hiding)
    fal (to devour) + -dokolfaldokol (to be devouring)
    fúl (to drown) + -dokolfúldokol (to be drowning)
    hal (to die) + -dokolhaldokol (to be dying)
    nyom (to press) + -dokolnyomdokol (to be pressing on)

Usage notes

  • (frequentative suffix) It is used only by a few one-syllable verbs. No longer productive. Variants:
    -dokol is added to back-vowel verbs
    -dekel is added to unrounded front-vowel verbs
    -dököl is added to rounded front-vowel verbs
