Usage notes
A lower-case Cyrillic ⟨л⟩ is a voiced velar lateral [ʟ]. The two are graphically distinct when set in italic type, which is the norm for UPA phonetic notation.

Small-cap л (voiceless) and lower-case л (voiced) are distinct when italic, which is how UPA is always typeset.
