The ostrich is a large flightless bird native to Africa. It is the largest bird in the modern world, and it lays the largest eggs in the world.

The ostrich has a long neck and legs, and can run at up to about 70 km/h (43 mph), the fastest land speed of any bird. It eats mostly plant material and invertebrates.
