Edwin s Porter told the first motion picture story in 1903 with his film The Great train robbery. Films continue to develop in black and white and without sound until 1927 when the first sound motion picture The Jazz Singer came out. Full color pictures followed by the 1930s. Motion pictures became a major form of news and entertainment throughout the world. New digital recording techniques and ways of showing films over the internet has increased their popularity.
