The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (Formally known as The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources) is an international organization with head offices in Switzerland. It brings together the skills and services of more than 800 specialist organizations and 10,000 scientists and experts, dedicated to the protection of the natural environment and the plants & animals which make up that environment.

The IUCN's purpose is to support and influence other countries and assist them in managing their natural resources, conserving their oceans and natural landscapes, and to protect the wide ranging number of plants and animals which inhabit the Earth.

It is one of the world's leading non-governmental environment agencies.
