The gorilla (Gorilla) is a mammal. It is a primate native to Africa. The gorilla is the next-closest living relative to humans, after the chimpanzee and bonobo. There are two species (eastern and western) and four or five subspecies. They are ground-dwelling, plant-eating mammals, that live in the forests of Africa from the highlands to the lowlands.
