A cook is a person whose job is to prepare food for people to eat, usually in restaurants or hotels.

In large restaurants the head cook is called chef. In addition to cooking, the chef is in charge of buying the food, deciding the menu and recipes for the dishes, and supervising everything that happens in the kitchen.
