Kindle Oasis was announced on April 13, 2016. It is a high-end Kindle device, designed with premium aluminum back, asymmetrical layout and two physical buttos for turning pages while reading. It has five pogo-pins on the back, able to connect to a removable leather battery cover.
In October 2017, Amazon released the second generation Kindle Oasis. It keeps an identical design, but removes the pogo pin on the back, and rated to IPX8 water resistant.
In July 2019, Amazon released the third generation Kindle Oasis. It features new 25 front light LEDs, which is capable of adjusting color temperature to warmer tones.
Amazon announced on a press event in October 2024 that they had no plans to build new devices with buttons, and would not stock more Kindle Oasis units once existing inventory was depleted.
